Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Account details (name, email, phone), listing content and photos, messages, enquiries, reports, and basic technical data (e.g. IP address for security and rate limiting). We collect only what the service needs.

2. How we use it

To operate the marketplace, show your listings, deliver messages and notifications, keep the platform safe (moderation, fraud prevention, audit logs), and improve the service.

3. What we share

• Public listing pages show your display name, photos and approximate location — never your exact address unless you choose “exact” display.
• Your email and phone are never shown publicly. Conversation partners see your name and messages.
• Service providers (hosting, email delivery, storage) process data only to provide the service.

4. Cookies & sessions

We use an essential HTTP-only session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising trackers. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap when you view a map.

5. Security

Passwords are hashed (bcrypt), sessions expire and can be revoked, uploads are validated, and admin actions are audit-logged. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

6. Your rights

You may access, correct or delete your personal information (subject to legal retention needs) by contacting support@roomfind.co.za from your registered email address. South African users have rights under POPIA, including lodging complaints with the Information Regulator.

7. Retention

We keep account and listing data while your account is active, and remove or anonymise it within a reasonable period after deletion, except where the law requires retention (e.g. fraud records).
