Rental Safety Guidance
Most rentals go smoothly — these steps protect you from the few that don't.
🚨 The golden rule
Never pay for a room before viewing it in person and verifying who you are dealing with.
✅ Room seeker checklist
- Always view the room in person before paying anything — no exceptions.
- Never pay cash without a signed, dated receipt showing the amount and address.
- Be suspicious of prices far below similar rooms in the same area.
- Never share your ID number, bank login or OTP codes with anyone.
- Meet in daylight, tell someone where you are going, and take someone with you if possible.
- Ask for proof that the advertiser may let the room (e.g. ownership, mandate, or lease).
- Read any lease carefully before signing or paying a deposit.
- Keep communication inside RoomFind messages until you trust the other party.
⚠️ Scam warning signs
- They pressure you to pay a “deposit” before viewing.
- They refuse video calls, viewings, or answering basic questions.
- Photos look like stock images or different properties.
- They ask for gift cards, crypto, or money to strangers.
- The story keeps changing, or they claim to be “abroad”.
